How to Add a Boho Flair to Your Triangle Wreath
After I made a few triangle wreaths with evergreens, my crafty curiosity swept me into the idea of using different types of materials. I started rooting around for materials that would give off more of a boho vibe, and I ended up being extremely happy with the result!
The boho wreath that I made consisted of dried grasses, stems from my hydrangea tree, and a birch stick that my dog Winston picked up on a walk.
The key to making a boho style wreath is a feathery floral and good quality ribbon
Step 1: Gather materials
I had recently purchased a spool frayed velvet ribbon from etsy for another craft, so I had some leftover. I’m so happy I had it on hand, because I feel like it really made the wreath come to life.
Obviously, your ribbon doesn’t have to be the exact same style and color. Boho style is earthy, floral, and organic, so as long as your ribbon choice falls into one of those categories, you can call it boho.
For this triangle wreath, I used a basic 2-inch satin ribbon as the wreath hanger, and tied it to both ends. Next, I assembled a mixture of dried botanicals I thought would look appealing together.
Usually, I dry flowers and greens when I receive a bouquet, so I had an abundance of dried botanicals that I had saved. I know this isn’t typical for most people, but it’s times like these I’m so grateful for my strange hobbies. You just never know when you’ll need a handful of dried flowers!
Step 2: Assemble
I layered grasses and hydrangea stems from my own garden with the dried botanicals, then I tightly wrapped a wire around them. I used another wire to attach it to the branch. Make sure your wire matches the color of the botanicals you’re using. In this case, I used brown wire.
Step 3: Wrap ribbon
After attaching my bundle of botanicals to the birch branch, I used my shears to trim the ends of stems that were visible. Next, I wrapped the frayed velvet ribbon over the wire wrapping. I attempted a bow, but the dried botanicals were so fragile a few of them crumbled when I tried tying it. I ended up just wrapping it a few times around the branch to hide the wire.
Step 4: Hang
If you find you have empty spaces after you tie the ribbon, just add more dried botanicals. Voila! You’re ready to hang your boho triangle wreath!
If you want to make a triangle wreath and give it to someone as a gift, you can make them extra sentimental by using flowers and ribbon from special occasions.
For example, the satin ribbon I used for this specific wreath was used to wrap my bridesmaid bouquet from a wedding I stood up in. Some of the dried flowers that I used are from a bouquet I received on my birthday from my brother and his fiancé. These simple wreaths can be so much more than home décor.
Triangle wreaths are the perfect opportunity to creatively display sentimental objects in your home, or to give a meaningful gift. You can use materials that would otherwise be thrown away to create something beautiful.
