How To Spruce Up a Store-Bought Wreath
A quick and simple way to spruce up a store-bought wreath, and make it look homemade!
Materials and How-To
I try to use whatever materials I have on hand when I’m making crafts or home decor, whether it be straight from my garden, or gems found on a walk. Lately, it’s been grapevine. My parents recently chopped down a massive grapevine that was attached to the side of their deck. It was gifted to them by my dad’s late parents, making this particular plant extra special. I couldn't let it go to waste.
I gravitate towards natural style wreaths full of twigs and branches, freeform in shape, and whimsical in style. A beautiful mess, if you will. That was the goal while sprucing up the store-bought wreath below!
Materials I used:
Wire cutters | wreath | grapevine | natural vine-wire | dried baby’s breath | velvet ribbon
I picked up a small, wispy wreath at Michael’s, to pair with the grapevine.
Then, I braided 3-5 long pieces of the grapevine together, and secured the ends with wire, creating a circle the same size as the wreath.
I used natural vine-wrapped wire to attach the grapevine to the wreath. It's my go-to for any vine or tree-based craft, as it camouflages effortlessly.
Last, I nestled dried baby's breath into the base of the wreath and hung it with a velvet ribbon.
Layering the grapevine onto the wreath added dimension and gave it a homemade feel.
This wreath was so simple to decorate, I think it took me all of 10 minutes.
